The Conditions of Service Committee, to which this matter was referred for advice, recommended that the salary scales of both posts should be extended from the present maximum of $800 a month by increments of $40 to $960 a month. It also recommended that this extension should be personal to the two officers concerned, as it is intended that in future the two posts should be filled by secondment from the Regular Army.

5. I am in agreement with the Committee and should be grateful for your approval of the extension of

the salary scales of these two posts with effect from the 1st April, 1949. The approval of Finance Committee has been obtained.
